I have started looking at what options there are to perform DNS based internet filtering. A few clients have been interested and instead of purchasing dedicated hardware, I decided it might be worth the time to revisit some of the services that have been around for a while, as well as seeing what new players there are on the market.
DNS Filter is one of the new players, and their pricing is disruptive. They are going to change the game with that alone. it is also easy to setup multiple groups for filtered content. We are just using a single group, filtering Adult Content and P2P sites.
Its really easy to select what categories that you want to filter, it also has a lot more granularity in its categories than openDNS.
So far it has done everything we needed and even increased the speed of DNS requests.
